Jane Tomlinson Run For All
On the 13th May Jane Tomlinson's 'Run for All' takes place in Leeds. Lots of the children have expressed an interest in the run, so below is a link with details. The junior run is 2.5k and is for 9-14 year olds. (There is also a mini-run for the younger children 1.5k) Children are encouraged to raise some money in sponsorship. I shall be there on the day running with my boys, it would be great to some some children from school too.

Police Dogs come to Bardsey!
Year 3 and 4 have had two very special visitors!
Yesterday we were really lucky and had the chance to meet two police dogs.
We met a sniffer dog - Woody the Spaniel - who was extrememly energetic and loved to be fussed and wanted to jump up at us. He obviously wanted to be off the lead...
We then met Max, a German Shepherd, who we weren't allowed to stroke (that was fine by us after we had seen the size of his teeth!). He was beautiful!
Max did some training skills for us, however when it came to 'stay' he was a little bit cheeky and wouldn't stay still...

The skipping continues...
The children are very enthusiastic following our 'Skipping Day' last week. The office are having a mad rush with skipping rope orders, resulting in more ropes being ordered into school. The children are enjoying teaching each other new skipping games - some children have even designed their own game.
Even the teachers are having a go!

Superstars in the Making!
The children in Reception have been planning their talent show to raise money for endangered animals for a while now and are now working hard to bring these ideas to life.
We have a week of singing, dancing, making and plenty of speaking and listening ahead of us to perfect our show ready for the performance next week. Not to mention the much anticipated baking before the big event! The children are already planning some tempting treats for all the parents.
The children will be continuing to create their versions of 'Dear Zoo' this week. Through this focus text we have discovered that many of the children have very adventurous ideas for the 'perfect pet!' Further to this, reception have the very important job of creating the beginning of our whole school story for book week.
In numeracy, the children are developing their skills in calculating. Through our 'jungle game' the children will be adding and taking away in a fun and exciting way. I am sure the children will let you know who made it through the jungle first!
All the staff are very excited to see the talents the children have practised at home. No call from Simon Cowell yet but you never know!

Skip-tastic!!
Today Jodie came to work with every class in school!! She taught Reception to Year 6 and we all loved it! At the end of the day we had a skipping assembly where we showed our skills! Charlie was a star in her wellies!
We worked individually, as pairs and in groups. Skipping is much cooler than some of us thought!

GRAFFITI!!!
Year six had "the best day ever" on Friday!! Ged Walker came to work us on our graffiti wall. We all had design ideas and included these in our art work. Ged was fantastic and lots of us were a bit star struck! We all wore old clothes and proper respirators to kep us safe. We had loads of fun and loved the whole experience.
Come and see our work...and keep an eye on the Wetherby News on Friday!
(Please remember that painting/writing on any wall MUST be done only with permission)
